Youth Pre-Conference (YPC)

is a transformative initiative held annually at the margins of the International Conference on Public Health in Africa (CPHIA). It brings together young African public health professionals from all over the continent and the diaspora, with the aim of providing a platform to network with leading health experts, exchange with their peers and present their work to a continental audience.

The YPC works to highlight young Africans not merely as beneficiaries of health programs but as leaders, key stakeholders, who advocate and innovate to improve the health of their communities and beyond.

African youth constitute over 65% of the African population, and behind this number are young health professionals and health advocates who hold great potential to innovate and advance Africa’s health. They play a critical role in African countries in promoting public health and reaching communities and thus, are partners, assets, and a prerequisite for the successful implementation of Africa CDC’s New Public Health Order for Africa and driving health security on the continent and internationally.
